How we verify listings

Listings on Shower Remodel Near Me come from state contractor license registries or, in cities without license data we can use, from Google Maps ratings. Here is exactly what we check, what we show and what we leave out.

In most ZIPs, every pro grouped here holds a tile or shower-and-bath license filed with whichever state covers that ZIP. We confirm the license is active, log its class, and note its effective date, then link to the state's own lookup for that record. A city with no such license file on this site yet instead shows a single ranked list of the tile and shower businesses Google's own users rate highest for that search, with each one's town and ZIP still shown.

ZIP grouping and distance math are a geography exercise, not a quality check, on the pages that have license data to group. A city that instead shows a ranked top-rated list works the same way in spirit: a spot on it says nothing about whether anyone currently holds a license. We don't rate, inspect or vet any listed business's finished work; use the license-checking guide on this site before you rely on a listing alone.

Where the listings come from

Each license listing also links to its own record on the state agency's website, so you can check it at the source.

What we check before a business is listed

What each listing shows

Business name
As registered with the state, with capitalization tidied up.
Category
Our label for why the business is listed on this site, based on its specialty or registered name.
License class
The specialty the registry lists for the business, for example General or Roofing.
License number
The contractor license or registration number the registry uses.
Status
Active as of the date we checked. We don't list any other status.
Effective and expiration dates
When the current license took effect and when it expires, as the registry reports them.
Business type
For example limited liability company, corporation or individual, shown on each business's profile when the registry provides it.
City and ZIP
From the business address on record. They show where a business is based, not the area it serves, which is why we say “based in”.
Verify license
A link to the business's own record on the state agency's website.

What we leave out on purpose

We don't publish phone numbers, street addresses or the names of owners and principals, even where the registry lists them. The business name is the only name we show.

How often we refresh

We re-pull the registry data and rebuild these pages from it. Every city page shows the date its listings were last checked; the current listings were checked on September 30, 2026. A license can change between our checks, so the Verify license link, which opens the live record, is always the final word.

Top-rated lists

A city without a shower remodeler license file on this site yet still gets a page; we just build it from a Google Maps pull instead of a state record, keyed to that city and this trade. Closed businesses don't survive the cut, nor do ones filed under a mismatched Google category, ones sitting far enough out that calling them nearby would stretch the truth, or ones with next to no reviews. A supply store, a fixture showroom, a site whose only job is collecting your contact information for resale, or a listing that's really just someone's personal name all get left off too.

What qualifies gets ranked as a single list by blending the star average with how many reviews stand behind it, rather than split into ZIP groups the way a license-based page is; each entry still carries its own town and ZIP so you can judge distance yourself. A city needs five or more qualifying businesses before its page goes live, and even a qualifying page caps out at ten names.

Ratings aren't permanent, so every page states the month behind the numbers it shows. This isn't a license check and it isn't us vouching for anyone's work: before you call, treat a high rank as a reason to pick up the phone, not a reason to skip asking what license or registration a business holds, then check that directly with the state. The business that eventually returns your call may sit in a different ZIP than the one you searched.

The details, the same on every top-rated page (3,343 city pages on this site):

A rating is not a license check and not an endorsement. Before you hire anyone, ask for the license or registration number your state or city requires and check it with the office that issued it.

What we don't do

We don't review or endorse contractors, and a listing isn't a recommendation. License listings are sorted alphabetically; top-rated lists are ranked only by Google rating and review count, as described above. No business pays to be listed, to be left off or for its position. If we ever add paid placements, they will be marked Sponsored. How we make money.
